Warning tape manufactured for marking and identifying underground utilities shall be used in all installations, when applicable of underground utilities in the Town of Carrollton. This warning tape shall be a minimum six (6) inches wide and four (4) mills thick, continuously inscribed with a description of the utility. The warning tape is to be placed at least six (6) inches above the utility pipe/conduit being marked but no less than twelve (12) inches below surface grade. An insulated copper tracer wire no smaller than eighteen (18) AWG must also be required by the utility company, Public Service Commission rules or other codes when non-metallic pipe is used. The installation of the tracer wires must follow the color code as for tape. The tape shall be colored as follows to comply with State regulations:
Red: Electric.
Yellow: Gas, oil, steam.
Orange: Communication, CATV.
Blue: Water.
Green: Sewer.
Purple: Reclaimed water.
