The mayor is the chief executive officer of the town, and shall:
A. Cause
the ordinances and regulations of the town to be enacted and obeyed;
B. Exercise,
within the town, those powers conferred upon sheriffs of counties,
to suppress disorders and keep the peace;
C. Perform
such other duties compatible with the office and which the town council
may require;
D. Supervise
the operation and management of the town, through the town manager;
E. Appoint
the town manager, subject to the advice and consent approval of the
majority of the members of the town council, as authorized by this
code;
F. Sign
all commissions, licenses and permits granted by the town council
and other acts that the law or ordinances may require.

In the event of the death, disability, resignation, or change
of residence from the town of the mayor, the town council shall appoint,
by majority vote, a qualified elector of the town to fill the vacancy
for the unexpired term of office.

The mayor shall be the presiding officer of the town council
at all meetings of the council. The mayor shall vote only when there
is a tie vote or as otherwise required by law.

The town councilors shall, at the organizational meeting after
the regular municipal election, elect from their own body a mayor
pro tempore to act in the absence of the mayor, except as may otherwise
be provided by law or ordinance. The town councilors may change the
mayor pro tem at their pleasure at any time. The mayor shall have
the power to break a tie vote on the election of the mayor pro tempore.
