The foregoing paragraphs or preamble are incorporated herein as the background and policy of this article.[1]

A. 
Maximum weight limits for vehicles are hereby established for the following specified bridges:
(1) 
Four bridges on Alexander Spring Road (T-469) between South Middleton Township line and Burnt House Road (T-542): 16,000 pounds maximum gross weight each.
(2) 
One bridge on Shag Bark Road (T-480) between Alexander Spring Road (T-469) and L.R. 890 (Route 11): 16,000 pounds maximum gross weight.
(3) 
Two bridges on Cold Springs Road (T-356) between Pine Road (SR 3006) and PA Forest and Water Ridge Road: 30,000 pounds maximum gross weight each.
(4) 
One bridge on Fanus Road (T-532) between South Middleton Township line and Goodyear Road (SR 3010): 16,000 pounds maximum gross weight.
B. 
It shall be unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle on any part of the foregoing enumerated bridges having a gross maximum weight in excess of that established by this article.
C. 
Any person operating a vehicle or combination upon a highway or bridge in violation of a prohibition or restriction imposed under this section is guilty of a summary offense and shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of $75, except that any person convicted of operating a vehicle with a gross weight in excess of a posted weight shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of $150 plus $150 for each 500 pounds, or part thereof, in excess of 3,000 pounds over the maximum allowable weight.
D. 
The following uses shall be exempt from the weight units imposed hereby:
(1) 
Local traffic: vehicles and combinations going to or coming from a residence, commercial or industrial establishment or farm which can only be reached by a posted bridge;
(2) 
Emergency vehicles;
(3) 
School buses operating on regular routes; and
(4) 
Vehicles and combinations of governmental agencies and utilities or their contractors engaged in construction, maintenance or utility operations on or along a posted highway or in a location which can only be reached by a posted bridge.
The provisions of this article, insofar as they are the same as those of ordinances and regulations in force immediately before the enactment of this article, are intended as a continuation of those earlier ordinances and regulations. Nothing in this article shall affect any act done or any suit or prosecution pending or to be instituted under any earlier ordinances or regulations repealed or superseded hereby.
