The construction of driveways within any zoning district in the Township shall conform to the requirements of Chapter 441 of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's Rules and Regulations entitled "Access to and Occupancy of Highways By Driveways and Local Road," January 1982, (or as amended) with the following exceptions:
A. 
Driveways serving from three to 12 dwelling units in the R-3 Zone shall have, as a minimum thickness, of four inches of stone base and three inches of pavement.
B. 
Driveways serving more than 12 dwelling units in the R-3 Zone shall have, as a minimum thickness, six inches of stone base and four inches of pavement.
C. 
Driveways serving commercial or industrial areas shall have, as a minimum thickness, six inches of stone base and four inches of pavement. In situations where five-axle trucks will be used for deliveries, the portions of the driveway and aisleways to be used by such vehicles should have six inches of stone base and six inches of pavement.
D. 
Driveways shall be paved with either bituminous or cement concrete meeting the specifications in Sections 400 and 500 of PennDOT Publication 408, 1987 Edition.
E. 
Driveways in the A-1, R-2, R-M and R-MHP Zoning Districts must be kept in a mud-free, dust-free condition.
F. 
Driveways in the Planned Community (PC) or Planned Airport District (PAD) must be constructed to the appropriate standard in Subsections A through E above for the applicable type and density of development.
G. 
Shared driveways.

(1) 
Shared driveways are only permitted in rural preservation developments and shall only provide direct access to interior roads created as a part of the development.
(2) 
Shared driveways shall serve no more than four separate lots and shall not exceed a length of 1,000 feet. Turnouts are to be provided at intervals not exceeding 500 feet to enable opposing vehicles to pass each other.
A. 
Parking lot pavement thicknesses are to conform to the minimum requirements for driveways contained in § 320-49 for the respective types of development.
B. 
The perimeter of all parking lots and entrance driveways shall have at least four inches high, Class A, air entrained cement concrete curbing conforming to Section 704 of PennDOT Publication 408.
