There is created in the City a Fire Department, to consist of
Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, engineer and 6 active firefighters.
The Fire Chief shall be appointed by the City Council, and shall hold
office at its pleasure. The Assistant Fire Chief, engineer and 6 active
firefighters shall be chosen and selected by the Fire Chief, and shall
hold office at his or her pleasure.

The Fire Chief shall have charge and supervision over all firefighting
apparatus, and the firehouse of the City, and shall have the entire
control of the department. During the absence of the Fire Chief, the
Assistant Fire Chief shall be acting Fire Chief, and in case of the
absence of both Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chief, the engineer
shall be acting Fire Chief.

Whenever an alarm is turned in to the City, the entire Fire
Department shall attend the fire, and the Chief of Police of the City
shall attend and render whatever assistance may be required by the
Fire Chief in maintaining order and keeping back the people assembled.
The Fire Chief and the Chief of Police at all fires shall have power
to appoint or deputize whatever assistants they may think the occasion
desires.

It is unlawful for any person:
A. To wilfully
cause a false alarm of fire;
B. To wilfully
mutilate or damage any property used by the Fire Department;
C. To use
for private purpose of or any purpose (other than such as are necessary
or convenient for the use of the Fire Department) any ladders, hose,
engine, or other apparatus belonging to or connected with the Fire
Department;
D. To take
water from any fireplug or other source of supply of the City for
fire purposes, during a fire, except under the direction of the Fire
Chief;
E. To ride
or drive any dray, truck or other vehicle over or across the fire
hose, unless such hose is protected to prevent any possible injury
to it;
F. To go
within 50 feet of any building on fire after arrival of the Fire Department,
except by permission of the Fire Chief or Chief of Police;
G. To hinder
or delay the progress of the Fire Department on its way to or from,
or at, any fire in the City.

Any person guilty of violating any of the provisions of this chapter, or performing any act declared by this chapter to be unlawful, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine and/or imprisonment in accordance with the general penalty provision then in effect in the City, pursuant to Chapter
1.08 of this code, as amended.
