Chapter 10.48: BICYCLE AND TOY VEHICLES

§ 10.48.010 Roadway riding restrictions—Sidewalk riding prohibited.

It is unlawful to ride a bicycle on any sidewalk.

The rider of a bicycle on a roadway shall ride as nearly as practicable within 5 feet of the righthand curb or edge of the roadway, except when passing a standing or other vehicle, or making a left-hand turn at an intersection.

§ 10.48.020 Riding on handlebars prohibited.

It is unlawful for the operator of any bicycle or motorcycle, when on a street, to carry any other person on the bar, handle or tank of any such vehicle, or for any person so to ride on any such vehicle.

§ 10.48.030 Rollerskates, coasters and similar toy vehicles prohibited on highways.

It is unlawful for any person on rollerskates or riding in or by means of any coaster, scooter, skateboard, toy vehicle or similar device, to go on any highway or roadway, or upon any sidewalk within any commercial district and in municipal parking lots. "Commercial district" means any area or areas so designated in the City General Plan and Zoning Ordinance.

§ 10.48.040 Clinging to moving vehicles prohibited.

It is unlawful for any person traveling on any bicycle, motorcycle or any toy vehicle to cling to or attach him or herself or his or her vehicle to any other moving vehicle on any roadway.

§ 10.48.050 Portable or fixed basketball goals prohibited.

No portable or fixed basketball goals shall be placed, erected or maintained on or alongside the right-of-way of any public street within the City so as to allow a person or persons to play within the street.

The placement of any basketball goal within a public right-of-way or the presence of persons within a public street playing basketball on such a goal shall be a violation of this section.
