(a) Enumerated. Except as otherwise provided in this article, holidays for Professional employees shall be:
(1) January 1 (New Year's Day);
(2) The last Monday in May (Memorial Day);
(3) July 4 (Independence Day);
(6) The day after Thanksgiving Day;
(7) The day before Christmas Day;
(8) December 25 (Christmas Day);
(10) In addition, personnel on full-time status shall be entitled to two floating holidays per calendar year to be taken at the discretion of the employee with department head approval; and
(11) Every day appointed by the President of the United States or Governor of the State for a public fast, thanksgiving, or holiday.
(b) Observance of holidays falling on Sundays. If any of the holidays set forth in subsection
(a) of this section falls upon a Sunday, the Monday following shall be observed as a holiday.
(c) Because sworn police and fire personnel who are members of the Professional Group are allowed extra vacation days under State law, they shall be restricted to holidays as follows:
(1) Eight hour day assigned employees shall be entitled to 11 holidays per year.
(2) Holidays may be earned equally, by the month, throughout the year.
