As more fully described below, the building official, and permittees,
shall ensure adequate space for recycling is incorporated into building
plans as required by the
California Code of Regulations, Title 23,
the California Green Building Standards Code, Chapter 4 Residential
Mandatory Measures, and Chapter 5 Nonresidential Mandatory Measures.

Where five or more multifamily dwelling units are constructed
on a building site, provide readily accessible area(s) that serves
all buildings on the site and are identified for the depositing, storage,
and collection of non-hazardous materials for recycling, including
(at a minimum) paper, corrugated cardboard, glass, plastics, organic
waste, and metals, or meet a lawfully enacted local recycling ordinance,
if more restrictive.

All additions constructed within a twelve-month period under
single or multiple permits, resulting in an increase of thirty percent
or more in floor area, shall provide recycling areas, including an
area for organic waste collection, on site.
