The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:
24-HOUR BUSINESS
Includes any business that remains open for business 24 hours per day at least 30 days in any 12-month period for the purpose of retail sales of goods or services. Businesses operated between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. shall be considered 24-hour businesses if they otherwise meet the criteria established above.

All 24-hour businesses shall:
(1) 
When possible, locate the cash register in a manner so that at the time of a sales transaction the employee and customer are both visible from outside the store.
(2) 
Keep glass entrance and exit doors clear of any signs or advertisements, except for a sign that shall be required stating that the cash register contains $50.00 or less and that any safe is not accessible to employees.
(3) 
Maintain a drop-safe or time-release safe that is either bolted to the floor, is set in the floor, or weighs at least 500 pounds.
(4) 
Provide lighting for the store's parking area during all hours of darkness when employees or customers are on the premises.
(5) 
Install and maintain in proper working order one or more security cameras that can produce a retrievable image on tape. The cameras must provide an unobstructed view of each entrance and each cash register. The video recorder must be located in an area of the business that is accessible only by key. Videotapes from the preceding seven days shall be made available for review at any time deemed necessary by the police department.

Any 24-hour business opening after the date of publication of the ordinance from which this article is derived shall be in compliance on the date of opening.

Any person who shall violate any of the terms or provisions of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished as provided in section 1-13.
