In order to expedite the determination and designation of through
highways and stop intersections for the purpose of regulating vehicular
traffic upon the highways, to require vehicles to stop before entering
or crossing through highways and to require vehicles to stop before
entering a stop intersection, the City Council may, by resolution,
designate any highway or street within the City as a through highway.
The City Council may designate by resolution, any intersection within
the City a stop intersection. Upon said intersection being so designated
a stop intersection all vehicles shall be required to stop at one
or more of the entrances to the intersection as may be prescribed
in the resolution.
When the City Council of the City, by resolution designates
any highway as a through highway, or designates any intersection as
stop intersection, all vehicular traffic shall stop before entering
or crossing the designated through highway and all vehicular traffic
shall stop at one or more entrances to the intersection as required
by the resolution when stop signs are erected at the entrances to
the highway or part thereof affected.
