This chapter is intended to preserve distinctive trees in the city, which because of their size, age and/or special features promote the beauty, character and/or sense of history in the city. It is also the intent of this chapter to establish regulations for the preservation of heritage trees within the city, and to encourage property owners to retain, maintain and preserve the aesthetic character and health and safety of heritage trees.
