It is unlawful for any person to discharge any firearm or gun within the city. This section shall not apply to any regularly established gun or rifle club or shooting gallery, the location of which has previously been approved in writing by the city, nor to any person specially licensed by the city to destroy pests, nor to peace officers in the discharge of their official duties, nor to other persons in the ordinary course of any lawful business within the city; providing, that prior approval of the city is obtained. "Firearm" or "gun", within the meaning of this section, means and includes air guns, BB guns, spring guns, air rifles, pistols, revolvers and guns of any character fired by explosives, air compulsion, or mechanical devices.
