Quality Code Publishing, Seattle, Washington, has compiled,
edited and published a codification of the general ordinances of Merced
County Code; and there are now on file in the office of the clerk,
for public inspection, three copies of a document entitled "Merced
County Code." The "Merced County Code," as compiled,
edited and published by Quality Code Publishing, Seattle, Washington
is hereby adopted.

This code shall be known as the "Merced County Code"
and it shall be sufficient to refer to said code as the "Merced
County Code" in any prosecution for the violation of any provision
of this code or in any proceeding at law or equity. It is sufficient
to designate any ordinance, adding to, amending, correcting or repealing
all or any part or portion of this code as an addition to, amendment
to, correction or repeal of the "Merced County Code."
References may be made to the titles, chapters, sections and subsections
of the "Merced County Code" and such references shall
apply to those titles, chapters, sections or subsections as they appear
in the code.

Whenever a reference is made to this code as the "Merced
County Code" or "code," or to any portion thereof,
or to any ordinance of the county of Merced codified in this code,
the references shall apply to all amendments, corrections and additions
heretofore, now or hereafter made.

Title, chapter and section headings contained in this code shall
not be deemed to govern, limit, modify or in any manner affect the
scope, meaning or intent of the provisions of any title, chapter or
section in this code.

The provisions of this code shall not in any manner affect matters
of record which refer to, or are otherwise connected with ordinances
which are therein specifically designated by number or otherwise and
which are included within the code, but such reference shall be construed
to apply to the corresponding provisions contained within this code.

The last ordinance included in this code was Ordinance number
1719, passed January 27, 2004. The following ordinances, passed subsequent
to Ordinance 1719, but prior to adoption of this code, are adopted
and made a part of this code: Ordinances 1720, 1721, 1722, 1723, 1724,
1725, 1726, 1727, 1728, 1729, 1730, 1731, 1732, 1733, 1734, 1735,
1736, and 1737. All new ordinances adopted subsequent to the adoption
of this code shall be inserted and made a part of the "Merced
County Code" in codified format. The "Merced County Code"
shall be maintained by the county counsel's office and supplemented
each year or more often as required.

The adoption of this code does not affect prosecution for ordinance
violations committed prior to the effective date of this code, does
not waive any fee or penalty due and unpaid on the effective date
of this code, and does not affect the validity of any bond or cash
deposit posted, filed or deposited pursuant to the requirements of
any ordinance.

If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this
code is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional, such
decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of
this code.

References in county forms, documents and regulations to the
chapters and sections of the former county code shall be construed
to apply to the corresponding provisions contained within this code.
