Those certain documents, three certified copies of which one
is on file in the office of the clerk, and two in the office of the
deputy director - buildings, marked and designated as the Uniform
Housing Code, 1997 Edition, adopted by the International Conference
of Building Officials, and the California State Amendments to the
code, are hereby adopted by reference and except as herein otherwise
provided, are applicable to and shall cover all residential construction
within the unincorporated area of the county of Merced.

The following sections of the Uniform Housing Code are deleted,
amended, or superseded by other provisions as hereinafter indicated:
A.
Chapter
2 is amended by substituting the title of "Health Officer"
in lieu of "Building Official."
B.
Section
203 is replaced as follows:
The Housing Advisory (and Building Code) Board of Appeals is provided for in Section 16.12.060 of this title.
C.
Section
204 is deleted.
D.
Section
401, "Health Officer" is amended as follows:
Health Officer is the legally designated head of the Department
of Health of Merced County or the employee in his or her office designated
by him or her as the Health Officer.
E.
Chapters
11, 12, 14, and 16 are amended by substituting the title of "Health
Officer" in lieu of "Building Official."
