Pursuant to the authority granted to the Township of Colebrookdale by 53 P.S. § 55503(a)(3) of the First Class Township Code, the Office of Elected Auditor for the Township of Colebrookdale is hereby abolished. The term of each elected auditor now holding office in the Township shall expire upon the adoption of this chapter.

At least 30 days prior to the end of its fiscal year, the Board of Commissioners shall annually appoint by resolution a certified public accountant registered in Pennsylvania, a firm of certified public accountants so registered, or a competent public accountant, or a competent firm of public accountants to make an independent examination of all the accounts and accounting records of the Township of Colebrookdale for the fiscal year then closing. The independent auditor shall have and possess all the powers and perform all of the duties of elected auditors as provided in the First Class Township Code (53 P.S. 55101 et seq.). The annual resolution of the Board of Commissioners appointing the independent auditor shall also establish the compensation to be paid to such person or firm.
This chapter shall be effective immediately. The Board of Commissioners shall by resolution appoint an independent auditor to audit the Township records in accordance with the terms of this chapter for the fiscal year ending December 31, 1986.
Should any section or provision of this chapter be declared to be invalid by the courts, such decision shall not affect the validity of the chapter as a whole, nor the validity of any section or provisions of the chapter other than the one so declared.
All other ordinances or parts of ordinances which are contrary to the provisions of this chapter are hereby repealed to the extent necessary to give this chapter full force and effect.
