The purpose of this chapter is to establish a procedure for
zoning property upon annexation.

Unincorporated territory adjoining the City may be pre-zoned
for determining the zoning that will apply to such property upon annexation.

Zoning of property to be annexed shall be established through initiation and processing according to the procedures established under Chapter 17.44, Amendments to the General Plan, Zoning Code, and Zoning Map.

The zoning of the property to be annexed shall become effective
at the time that annexation to the City becomes effective pursuant
to Government Code Section 56000 et seq. If the subject area has not
been annexed to the City within five years of the date of zoning approval,
the zoning approval is subject to reconsideration.
