For the purpose of this title, unless it is plainly evident from the context that a different meaning is intended, certain terms used herein are defined as follows in this chapter.

means any mammal, including but not limited to, horse, cow, goat, sheep, dog and cat.

means an animal off the premises of its owner and not under restraint by leash, or chain or not otherwise controlled by a competent person.

means the incorporated area of the City of Union City.

means the City Manager or his or her authorized representative.

means any member of the canine family and includes female as well as male dog.

includes mule, burro, pony, jack, hinny or jenny.

means any person, firm or corporation owning, having an interest in, or having control or custody or possession of any animal.

includes any person, partnership, corporation, trust and association of persons.

means facility designated by City Manager for impoundment of animals.

means any animal not ordinary and customarily domesticated, including, but not limited to skunk, raccoon, opossum, squirrel and fox, but under human control.

means any chickens, roosters, cocks, geese, ducks, turkeys, pheasants, doves, pigeons, squabs or similar fowl.
