The fire department shall be under the supervision of the fire
chief. The functions of the fire department shall include:
A.
The
extinguishment of structural, brush and other types of fires.
B.
The
enforcement of laws concerned with fire prevention.
C.
To abate
any hazard or nuisance caused by any substance that presents a threat
to the public because of toxicity, radioactivity, flammability or
other characteristic dangerous to the public health or environment.
D.
Such
other functions as may be delegated by the city council or the city
manager.
E.
The
city council may delegate these and other functions through contract
with outside agencies.
