Whenever it shall become necessary for any officer of the county or of any township thereof to call upon any physician or surgeon to render professional services for which services the county shall be legally liable or when any physician or surgeon shall be lawfully subpoenaed to testify before any court or the grand jury, or at any coroner's inquest, or preliminary examination, the fees to which such physician or surgeon shall be entitled for such services shall not exceed the sums hereinafter set forth. In all cases the nearest competent physician or surgeon who is available shall be employed.

The fees which may not be exceeded, as provided in Section 2.128.010, are as follows:
For performing an autopsy prior to interment on the subject, $50;
For performing an autopsy after disinterment of the subject, $100;
For inspecting a body after death, $5;
The fees provided in subsections A through C of this section include services in making and filing a sworn statement or testifying at a coroner's inquest relative to the subject on whom the autopsy or inspection was performed.
For attendance at any court, such fees and expenses as the court may allow, in the event that no fees are fixed by the court and not herein otherwise provided for.
For testifying at preliminary examination or at a trial or before a grand jury, $10 for the first hour of actual attendance and $5 for each subsequent hour, with a maximum of $25 per day.
In matters of and proceedings concerning alleged mental illness, feeble-minded person, inebriates, addicts or sexual psychopaths, where physical examination is made in Auburn by local residential medical examiners or testimony in court is given, for each case and to each examiner, the sum of $25.
Where in such matters and proceedings medical examiners reside in Auburn or vicinity are required to make examination in and near Lincoln, $15 to each such medical examiner; for physical examinations required to be made in or near Colfax and in or near Roseville by examiners residing in Auburn or vicinity, $20 to each such medical examiner.
When medical examiners reside other than in Auburn or vicinity, are required to make physical examinations in the vicinity of their respective homes or offices and then appear to give testimony as to each examination in court in Auburn, $20 for each such examination to each such examiner from Colfax or Roseville and $15 from Lincoln.
The county physician shall not be allowed nor shall he or she receive any fee or compensation other than his or her monthly salary for such examinations or testimony.
No mileage shall be paid in addition to the above and respective fees, but such is included therein.
For the purposes of construction of this section, Newcastle and Bowman are declared to be within the phrase "Auburn or vicinity," as herein used.
For examination of persons to determine intoxication, $10.
For each mile necessarily traveled to testify in any of the above matters, six cents ($.06), except where or when above expressly prohibited.

A. 
When Payable. The county of Placer shall make payment under the following conditions:
1. 
When service is requested by a public peace officer; or
2. 
When service is requested by the Placer County outpatient clinic.
B. 
Amount Payable. The maximum payment for emergency medical service claim shall not exceed the amount set forth in the medical schedule of maximum allowances or other applicable medical schedules.
C. 
Claim Procedure. Claims shall be processed on a monthly basis and shall be filed with the administrator of health and medical services not later than the fifth day of each calendar month. Claims shall be on forms prescribed by the administrator of health and medical services.
D. 
Fund From Which Payable. All claims for payment under this section shall be from the general fund.

Each claim filed for compensation under this article shall briefly recite the circumstances that determine the reasonable value of the services performed to be used as the basis for the allowance of such claim.
