When used in this title, any amendment hereof, in the Stanislaus County Personnel Manual or other compendium of personnel rules, and in any ordinance or resolution classifying and fixing the salaries and compensation or authorizing the employment of personnel in any department, agency, or office of the county, the terms set forth in this chapter shall have the meanings set forth in this chapter unless it is clearly apparent from the context that they are used in a different sense.

"Board" when used alone, means the board of supervisors of Stanislaus County.

Wherever used in the personnel manual or other compendium of personnel rules, the term "chief executive officer" shall have the same meaning as "personnel director" or "director of personnel," and the "personnel department" shall have the same meaning as the "human relations department" or "chief executive office" unless otherwise approved by the board.
