(1) All
entrances from public streets to buildings in the City shall be numbered
as herein provided.
(2) The
Building Inspector shall designate the appropriate number for each
building upon streets heretofore or hereafter laid out within the
City.
(3) In addition to the numbers to be placed as required in subsection
(1) above, all rear entrances to buildings from public alleys or thoroughfares shall be numbered consistently with the number system herein required.

For the purpose of the system of numbering buildings upon public
streets within the City, the City shall be divided northerly and southerly
by Queen Street and easterly and westerly by Grevillea Avenue south
of Redondo Boulevard and by La Brea Avenue north of Redondo Boulevard
to Plymouth Street and the prolongation of La Brea Avenue to Centinela
Avenue. All public streets and thoroughfares within the City northerly
of Queen Street and extending northerly and southerly shall for the
purpose of the system of street numbers herein provided for be known
by their respective names preceded by the word "North"; and all streets
south of Queen Street and extending northerly and southerly shall
be known by their respective names preceded by the word "South"; and
all streets westerly of Grevillea Avenue, La Brea Avenue, or its prolongation
northerly of Plymouth Avenue and extending easterly and westerly shall
be known by their respective names preceded by the word "West"; and
all streets easterly of Grevillea Avenue, La Brea Avenue or its prolongation
extending easterly and westerly shall be known by their respective
names preceded by the word "East"; provided, that in those cases where
a street does not cross the street forming the line of division the
word "East," "West," "North," or "South," as the case may be, may
be omitted.

The numbers of buildings upon the north and west sides of respective
streets shall be odd numbers and on the south and east sides of respective
streets shall be even numbers.

One hundred numbers or as many thereof as may be necessary shall
be allotted to each block. The first number allotted to each street
north or south or east or west of the street forming a dividing line
shall be 100, to be used on the even number side of the street, and
101 shall be the first number upon the opposite side of the street.
At the second street the first number to be used shall be 200 and
shall be used on the even number side of the street, and 201 shall
be the first number in said block used on the odd number side of the
street, and so on through the entire system, and there shall be one
number allotted for each twenty-five feet of frontage calculated from
the beginning of the block.

The number of each building shall be placed on or immediately
above the floor or gate enclosing its entrance and, if there is a
public alley or thoroughfare abutting the rear of the building, the
numbers shall also be placed on the rear of the building in such manner
that it is visible from the alley or thoroughfare. Said numbers shall
be at least three inches high and of corresponding width. Said numbers
shall be placed within five days after the person owning or occupying
the premises shall be notified by the Building Inspector of the appropriate
number and all other numbers shall be removed within five days after
the Building Inspector shall have notified the person owning or occupying
said premises of the appropriate number.
