For the purposes of this chapter, "laser pointer or other similar
device" is defined as any device capable of emitting a highly amplified
ultraviolet or infrared light, regardless of the color of the light
emitted.

It is unlawful for any person to focus, point, shine, or otherwise
direct the beam of a laser pointer or other similar device at any
person, or directly or indirectly into the eyes of another person
or animal, or into a moving vehicle, in such a manner as to be injurious
to, harass, disturb, or place in fear of bodily harm any other person
and/or property.

No minor shall possess or use a laser pointer except under the
direct supervision and control of the minor's parents, legal guardian,
or other adult authorized by the parent or legal guardian to exercise
such supervision.

Any person violating the provisions of Section
9.69.020 or
9.69.030 of this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor or an infraction, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars or imprisonment in the County Jail for a period of not more than six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
Minors shall be dealt with in accordance with juvenile court
law and procedure.
Upon conviction of any person of a violation of any of these
sections, the device shall be deemed a nuisance and disposed of by
the law enforcement personnel.
