The powers and duties of the former Community and Cultural Affairs
Commission shall be vested in the City Manager or his/her designee
as follows.
A. Implement,
within authority, programs’ effectiveness and needs and recommend
a planned orderly approach to the delivery of leisure and community
services, especially to the City’s youth and seniors;
B. Implement,
within authority, and make recommendations to the development and
maintenance of greenbelt areas, the City’s parks, and the development
and oversight of recreation, leisure and educational programs;
C. Implement,
within authority, and make recommendations to the City Council on
fees, operations, policies, maintenance, and budget for City parks
and recreation facilities;
D. Implement,
within authority, and make recommendations to the City Council the
development and promotion of Cabot’s Old Indian Pueblo Museum;
E. Implement,
within authority, and make recommendations to the City Council City
cultural development and arts programs;
F. Implement,
within authority, and encourage art and cultural activities among
residents of the City;
G. Implement,
within authority, and make recommendations to the City Council, programs
that promote goodwill and participation among residents of the community;
H. Implement,
within authority, and make recommendations to the City Council programs
to promote mutual understanding and respect amongst the City’s
diverse racial, religious, cultural and nationality groups;
I. Implement,
within authority, and make recommendations to the City Council on
public art needs of the City;
J. Cooperate
with other governmental agencies, private entities, and civic groups
in the advancement of public arts planning and programming for the
City;
K. Implement,
within authority, and make recommendations to the City Council the
annual budget for public art purposes;
L. Research
and apply for grants to implement and support the various programs
and activities related to art and cultural activities;
M. Encourage
public and private partnerships;
N. Implement,
within authority, and make recommendations to the City Council the
development, installation, maintenance, preservation, and display
of public art;
O. Implement,
within authority, and make recommendations to the City Council for
the commissioning of artworks, the purchases or lease of art sites,
agreements for the purchase and display of artwork, or the repair,
maintenance or servicing of artwork;
P. Work
cooperatively with City boards, commissions and committees and other
public and private organizations in promoting art and cultural activities
within the City.
