This Part is adopted in conformance with and pursuant to authority
granted by §§1006 and 1202(18) of the Borough Code, as amended,
53 P.S. §46006 and 53 P.S. §46202(18).

This Part may be referred to as the “Selinsgrove Building
Numbering Ordinance.”

Unless otherwise expressly stated, or unless the context clearly
indicates a different meaning, the following words shall have the
following meanings:
ALLEY
Any road within the Borough, even if named and identified
by a street sign, onto which a building does not face.
BLOCK
A segment of a street that runs from one intersecting street
to the next.
STREET
Any existing or future Borough street or road, not including
an alley.

The Borough Council hereby adopts the system for numbering buildings
within the Borough set forth in this Part.

The Borough Council shall tabulate all real estate parcels within
the Borough based on the Snyder County Tax Assessment Maps for the
Borough and assign numbers to the buildings on the parcels in accordance
with this Part. The tabulation shall include the tax parcel number,
the number assigned in accordance with this Part, the street name
on which any building on the parcel faces and any other information
as may be deemed appropriate. Such tabulation shall be kept current
to reflect the existing real estate parcels within the Borough.

The number for a building, if a number is required under this
Part, shall be indicated on any building permit for the building issued
by the Borough.

1. Owner’s
Responsibility. The owner of a building shall display the number or
numbers assigned to the building on the building.
2. Rules for
Display.
A. General.
Numerals for the number shall be placed so as to be conspicuous and
easily readable from the street upon which the building faces. No
number shall be displayed in words.
B. Style.
Numerals shall be Arabic and shall not be ornate so as to be unreadable
from the street.
C. Size.
Numerals shall be no less than four inches in height with a minimum
stroke width of ½ inch.
D. Contrast.
Numerals shall be of a color to contrast well with the background
on which they are placed.
E. Positioning.
Numerals shall be placed closely to the main entrance of the building
or part of the building they identify.

The Borough Council shall name or rename any street, portion
of a street or alley to facilitate the numbering system set forth
in this Part.
