Pursuant to authority contained in the Act of June 13, 1961, P.L. 282, No. 167, 53 P.S. §8001 et seq., as amended, there is hereby created a historic district within Yardley Borough. This Chapter shall be known and may be cited as the “Yardley Borough Historic District Ordinance.”

This district is created for the following purpose:
Pursuant to Article I, §27, of the Pennsylvania Constitution, it is the purpose and intent of Yardley Borough to promote, protect, enhance, perpetuate and preserve historic district for the educational, cultural, economic and general welfare of the public through the preservation, protection and regulation of buildings, structures and areas of historic interest or importance within the Borough, and to safeguard the heritage of the Borough by preserving and regulating the historic district and to preserve and protect the cultural, historical and architectural assets for which the Borough has determined to be of local, State or National, historical and/or architectural significance.

1. 
No portion of a structure located in the Historic District and seen from a public right-of-way shall be erected, reconstructed, altered, restored, demolished or razed in whole or in part, unless a certificate of appropriateness has been obtained. Any such portion that is visually obstructed from the public right-of-way by a fence, shed, vegetation or other similar obstruction shall not be excluded from this requirement.
2. 
No sign located in the Historic District and seen from a public right-of-way shall be erected, reconstructed, altered or modified unless a certificate of appropriateness has been obtained.
3. 
Public right-of-way shall include the streets and portion of the Delaware Canal State Park located in the Historic District.
4. 
Antennas and satellite dishes shall be regulated to the extent permitted by the FCC while maintaining a clear signal.
