A. 
The California Residential Code, 2025 Edition, including the Appendices, except as may be amended by this Chapter, are hereby adopted by reference as the Residential Code of the City.
B. 
One copy of the California Residential Code shall be at all times maintained in the office of the Building Official for use and examination by the public.
C. 
The purpose of this Residential Code is to prescribe regulations to preserve existing buildings while achieving the appropriate levels of safety.

A. 
Section 105.2 Building (1) is amended to read as follows: One-story detached accessory structures, provided the following:
1. 
The floor area or roof area of an open structure does not exceed 120 square feet.
2. 
The structure does not exceed 12 feet in height at the highest point of the structure.
3. 
There shall be no installation of plumbing, electrical, or mechanical fixtures or equipment.
B. 
Section R902.1.3 is amended to read as follows:
R902.1.3 Roof coverings within the City of Goleta The entire roof covering of every existing structure where more than 50% of the total roof area is replaced within any one-year period, the entire roof covering of every new structure, and any roof covering applied in the alteration, repair, or replacement of the roof of every existing structure, shall be a fire-retardant roof covering that is Class A, in all areas of the City of Goleta.
