For the purpose of this chapter the following definitions shall be in effect:
"Animal"
means any mammal, poultry, bird, reptile, fish or any other dumb creature.
"Sheriff'
means the Inyo County sheriff or any other person duly authorized to act on his/her behalf.
"Owner"
means any person who owns an animal, or who harbors or keeps an animal for five or more consecutive days.
"Person"
means any person, firm, partnership, corporation, trust or any association of persons.

It is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to:
A. 
Trap or capture skunks for pets;
B. 
Trap, capture or hold skunks in captivity for pets, sale, barter or gift; and
C. 
Transport skunks from or into the county except that the importation or exportation of skunks may be permitted by the sheriff for recognized zoological gardens or research institutions.
