The city traffic engineer shall erect and maintain certain appropriate signs as "truck traffic routes," on streets or portions thereof designated in this chapter for the use by any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of three tons. When any such truck, traffic route or routes are established and designated by appropriate signs the operator of any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of three tons shall drive on such route and none other, except when necessary to traverse another street to a destination for the purpose of loading or unloading, but then only by such deviation from the nearest truck route as is reasonably necessary.

A. 
The following designated and described streets and highways entirely within the jurisdiction of the city constitute an exclusive route for the use of any vehicle exceeding the maximum gross weight of three tons, and the city traffic engineer is authorized to designate such street and streets by appropriate signs as "truck routes" for the movement of vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of three tons:
1. 
D Street between Arrow Highway and Foothill Boulevard;
2. 
E Street between Bonita Avenue and the south city limits;
3. 
Arrow Highway;
4. 
Base Line Road;
5. 
Wheeler Avenue;
6. 
Foothill Boulevard;
7. 
San Dimas Canyon Road;
8. 
White Avenue.
B. 
No operator of any vehicle exceeding the maximum gross weight limit of three tons shall drive on other than the truck routes as designated in this section, except that nothing in this section shall prohibit the operator of any vehicle exceeding the maximum gross weight of three tons coming from a truck route having ingress and egress by direct route to and from restricted streets when necessary for the purpose of making pickups or deliveries of goods, wares and merchandise from or to any building or structure located on such restricted streets, or for the purpose of delivering materials to be used in the actual and bona fide repair, alteration, remodeling or construction of any building or structure upon which such restricted streets for which a building permit has previously been obtained therefor.
