All dwelling and/or business buildings within the city shall
conform to the requirements of this chapter.
(Ord. 59 § 1, 1980)
All streets running in a north/south direction shall begin at
the nine-hundred block and increase in a northerly direction. All
streets running in an east/west direction begin at the westerly city
limits, beginning with the sixty-three-hundred block, and increase
in an easterly direction.
(Ord. 59 § 2, 1980)
Buildings in each of said areas shall be numbered in accordance
with the following general rules:
A. Numbers
shall be assigned on the general plan of one hundred to each block
and, where adjacent blocks are irregular in length, the numbers in
these blocks may be varied to meet the conditions as determined by
the building official.
B. Even
numbers shall be allotted to the north and west sides of the streets,
the odd numbers to the south and east sides.
(Ord. 59 § 3, 1980)
All numbers shall be allotted by the building official, who
shall determine the proper number in each case from the maps to be
numbered and maintained on file in the building department in the
city.
(Ord. 59 § 4, 1980)
Before any permit is issued for building operations, the applicant
for such permit shall obtain from the building official the proper
house number for the property for which such permit, within the limits
of this chapter, is desired.
(Ord. 59 § 5, 1980)
House numbers, as so allotted, shall be placed on buildings
on the transom over the principal entrance, or on some other place
on the front of the building where the numbers may be easily seen
from the street, and all such numbers shall be at least two and one-half
inches in height.
(Ord. 59 § 6, 1980)
It shall be the duty of the lessee, occupant, or owner of any
existing building to obtain the proper house number from the building
official and to place this number on said building within thirty days
from the effective date of this chapter. It shall be the duty of the
lessee, occupant or owner of any new building to place the number
assigned to said building on or before the day final inspection is
made by the building official.
(Ord. 59 § 7, 1980)
If the building official finds any building upon which the proper
number has not been properly placed, as required by this chapter,
he or she may order the applicant, lessee, or owner to obtain and
properly place such number within ten days. The posting of a notice
upon the entrance door of such building shall meet the requirements
of this chapter for legal service of such notice or order. It shall
be the duty of the lessee, occupant, and/or owner of the building
to comply with the order.
