It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a motor vehicle weighing in excess of 22,000 pounds on any street or highway within the city other than on a designated truck route.

The following highways in the state highway system are the designated truck routes in the city:
FM 428 (also known as Spring Hill Road) except that portion of FM 428 between US Route 377 and Main Street.

Signs marking the designated truck routes shall be erected as required by the Texas Department of Transportation in the Sign Guidelines and Applications Manual: Truck Routes, as it may be amended from time-to-time. Neither the absence of signage nor the failure of an operator of a motor vehicle to view the signage is an affirmative defense to culpability under this article.

An operator of a motor vehicle in excess of 22,000 pounds traveling on a city street for the purpose of a specific delivery to a location that cannot be reached except via a roadway that is not a designated truck route who is able to furnish a valid delivery bill showing the delivery is exempt from the provisions of this article.

Any person violating or failing to comply with this article shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be punished by a fine between any provision hereof shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be punished by a fine between one dollar ($1.00) and five hundred dollars ($500.00).
