(a)
The Mayor shall be the chief elected official of the City and the Presiding Officer of Council. S/he shall be the official representative of the City government and shall have the authority to represent the City in deliberations with other governmental bodies. The Mayor may delegate such authority to any other elected or appointed officer of the City.
(b)
Candidates for Mayor must be registered voters of the City who have resided in the City for a period of one year before the primary election in which the person is a candidate and be at least 18 years of age at the time of his/her election. The Mayor must retain residency in the City during his/her term of office. If during a term of office the Mayor moves out of the City, s/he forfeits that position.
(d)
The term of the Mayor shall be four years and shall begin on the first Monday of January of the year after the municipal election.
