This section applies to all future elections of city officials. Those elected as a result of the May 1996 election who will serve a two-year term will be determined in accordance with LGC section 23.026(b) which specifies that, if two-year terms are adopted, the mayor and two aldermen, next elected, serve two-year terms. The two aldermen who serve two-year terms are determined by drawing lots at the first meeting of the governing body following the annual municipal election. Thereafter, all members of the governing body serve a term of two years.
