A.
In addition to any other alarms or alarm systems or zones that may be required, the owner of any building or structure wherein a monitored fire or smoke alarm system is installed shall install a monitored carbon monoxide zone within the vicinity of any fuel-burning appliance, such as for example, but not by way of limitation, gas-fueled furnaces and boilers and hot water heaters.
B.
If individual units of a building contain fuel-burning appliances, other than stoves, a monitored carbon monoxide zone must be established on each common area landing of such building.
C.
Installation of a monitored carbon monoxide alarm zone shall only be undertaken by a properly licensed contractor with an approved permit from the Fire Prevention Bureau and/or the Building Department.
D.
The carbon monoxide zone may not be a supervised zone, it must automatically notify the North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue (the fire department).
