The Santa Barbara Airport Police are peace officers as provided for under Section 830.33(d) of the California Penal Code and shall have the authority to perform the duties authorized under that code section.

The Airport Director shall designate in writing the classification or job title of airport employees designated to exercise citation authority pursuant to Section 836.5 of the California Penal Code.

The Airport Police, as a condition of their employment, are authorized to carry firearms. The training, use, and handling of firearms shall comply with all departmental policies, rules, and regulations.

The violation of any provision of this title is a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed the sum of $1,000, or by imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
