(a)
No person shall own, possess, or harbor any dog or cat 16 weeks of age or older unless it has been vaccinated against rabies in accordance with this section and state law.
(b)
Rabies vaccination shall be repeated in accordance with state laws and regulations.
(c)
The owner of any unvaccinated dog, cat, or ferret reclaimed from the ASC must purchase a rabies voucher from the ASC before leaving the center. The owner will be required to have the animal vaccinated within ten (10) days and proof of vaccination should be immediately returned to the ASC. Failure to vaccinate the animal or provide a valid rabies vaccination certificate is a violation of the local ordinance and state law and will result in a citation.
(d)
Pet owners are required to provide proof of an animal's current rabies vaccination when requested by an animal care officer. Proof shall be shown by providing a valid copy of the animal's rabies certificate provided by a licensed veterinarian. A rabies tag is not valid proof of a rabies vaccination.
