The personnel of the Division of Police and Fire Alarm Signal System Maintenance shall consist of a Superintendent of Police and Fire Alarm Signal System, hereinafter called the "Superintendent," three fire alarm and signal maintenance persons, and one clerk, who shall be under the jurisdiction of the Commissioner of Public Services.

The Division shall be responsible for the following:
A. 
The construction, maintenance and repair of the police and fire alarm system, the patrolling of all lines of electrical wire connected with or used therein, and any and all other work and duties necessary to keep and maintain such system and all wires, fixtures, apparatus and machinery thereof in good order and proper repair to ensure the safety and efficiency thereof.
B. 
The performance and discharging of such other or additional duties which the City Council, by ordinance, the Commissioner of Public Services or Superintendent may hereinafter prescribe.

The Superintendent shall have general supervision of the personnel of the Division. They shall keep complete records of the Division and shall, whenever required, report the activities of the Division to the Commissioner of Public Services and submit a list of such funds as may be required for the operation of their Division for the year.

The personnel of the Division, other than the Superintendent, shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Public Services and shall be subject to removal by the provisions of MGL c. 31, and the civil service rules and regulations made pursuant thereto.
