The following general conventions shall be followed regarding names for new streets.
A. 
East-west streets shall be named "Street."
B. 
East-west cul-de-sacs shall be named "Court."
C. 
North-south streets shall be named "Avenue."
D. 
North-south cul-de-sacs shall be named "Place."
E. 
Straight streets shall have numeric names such as 184th Avenue.
F. 
Curving streets shall have nonnumeric names such as Elhi Rim Road.
G. 
Northeast-southwest and southeast-northwest streets shall have nonnumeric names and be named "Drive."
H. 
No two streets shall have the same name unless they are aligned to connect.

A. 
The general addressing grid shall be that of surrounding Pierce County.
B. 
On streets, addresses shall be even on the north side, odd on the south side.
C. 
On avenues, addresses shall be even on the east side, odd on the west side.

If the director(s) becomes aware of street names or address numbers that have been issued in conflict with BLMC § 15.32.010 or 15.32.020, and if said conflict could delay emergency response time, the director(s) shall require that those street names or addresses be changed to conform with BLMC § 15.32.010 or 15.32.020; provided, that:
A. 
When requiring that street names or addresses be changed, the director(s) shall give residential tenants at least 90 days and commercial tenants at least 180 days to effect the change.
B. 
When more than 10 addresses would change, the director(s) may cause a comment period and/or public hearing to be held on the proposal with notices sent to the affected property owners. The purpose of the comment period and/or public hearing shall be to consider citizen concerns and to give the director(s) more information upon which to determine whether the proposed change is in the public interest.
