There is hereby established the position of city clerk.

The salary for the city clerk will be set at the rate provided for in the annual budget of the city adopted by the city council.

The city clerk shall perform all duties designated to be performed by the city clerk as set forth in RCW Title 35A.

In addition to the duties described in other sections of this chapter, the city clerk is appointed to be the city's recipient of claims and lawsuits as follows:
All claims and lawsuits brought against the city and/or its past and present officers and employees shall be filed or served upon the appointed city clerk during normal business hours at his or her office.
