Each city council member shall be paid for attending council meetings an amount which shall be established by the Soap Lake Salary Commission and adopted by resolution from time to time, but any reduction in the compensation attaching to an office shall not be applicable to the term then being served by the incumbent.

The current salary for the city council positions is established at $70.00 per month, as of January 1, 2025; provided, this amount shall expire upon adoption of rates established by the Soap Lake Salary Commission as set forth in SLMC § 2.48.010.
