In accordance with the Glocester Town Charter, Article XIII, Section C13-10 there is hereby established the Glocester 250th Commission which shall be active from the effective date of passage through December 31, 2027.

A.
The Glocester 250th Commission shall consist of seven members appointed by the Town Council. The said commissioners shall hold their respective positions through December 31, 2027 or until their successors are appointed.
B.
Members of said Commission shall serve without pay and at the pleasure of the Town Council. In the event of a vacancy, interim appointments may be made by the Town Council to complete the unexpired term of such position.
A.
The Glocester 250th Commission is tasked with the following responsibilities:
(1)
To plan and organize events, activities, and initiatives that celebrate and commemorate Rhode Island's historical contributions to the ideals of freedom, equality, and independence in observance of the nation's 250th anniversary.
(2)
To promote civic pride and local history awareness within the Town of Glocester.
(3)
To collaborate with relevant organizations, institutions, and community groups to achieve the Commission's goals.
(4)
To engage in and support activities that promote civic pride and acknowledge local history, including decorations, events and activities.
A.
The Glocester 250th Commission shall provide progress reports to the Town Council on a quarterly basis outlining their activities, expenditures, and progress towards their goals.
B.
All meetings of the Commission shall be open to the public in accordance with the guidelines set forth in the R. I. Open Meetings Law, to include agendas, notifications and meeting minutes.
