The purpose of these provisions is to define the permissible locations on which advertisements may be placed.
A. 
No person shall carry or display, by any means whatsoever, any advertisement on any public sidewalk or roadway of any street, avenue, or City right of way, or on City signage for the purpose of attracting public notice, provided that nothing in this section shall apply to noncommercial advertisement worn upon the person or carried or displayed in any public demonstration which does not expose any person to hatred, contempt, ridicule, or obloquy, and which is not calculated to injure any person in his/her business or occupation.
B. 
No person shall post or cause to be posted any advertisement of any kind whatsoever upon any building, wall, fence or post without the consent of the owner thereof, within or adjoining any street or thoroughfare of the City.
C. 
Businesses may post ordinary business advertisements on the front or side of the building in which their business operates.
D. 
Property Owners may place a stationary sign, or display of goods, wares or merchandise on their property's lawn.
E. 
Political, local nonprofit organization, church, and City event advertisements are exempt from Subsection B above, provided that:
(1) 
Unless on private property, political signs are put up when vote by mail ballots are mailed, and removed seven days after the election;
(2) 
Unless on private property, nonprofit organization, church, and City event advertisements shall be removed seven days after the event.
A. 
Advertisements must not place pornographic or profane signs or images in public view.
B. 
Each advertisement must clearly identify the advertiser.
C. 
Any testimonials and endorsements contained in ads must comply with all applicable laws, industry standards, rules, and regulations.
Any advertisements found to have violated any section of this article shall be removed at any time by the Council of the City of Egg Harbor through the designated City Department. The Council will provide prompt notice to the advertiser upon removal of any advertisement, together with an explanation. The Council reserves the right to determine the appropriate placement of any advertisement.
