Unless otherwise specified by the Edgewood Municipal Code (EMC), anyone who violates the provisions of any ordinance or this code shall be punished pursuant to the general penalty provision set forth below:
A.
Misdemeanor Penalty. Unless otherwise provided, any person found guilty of violating any of the provisions of this code or failing to comply with any of the mandatory requirements of this code which is designated a misdemeanor shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $1,000 or by imprisonment not to exceed 90 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
B.
Gross Misdemeanor Penalty. Unless otherwise provided, any person found guilty of violating any provision of this code or failing to comply with any of the mandatory requirements of this code which is designated a gross misdemeanor shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $5,000 or by imprisonment not to exceed 364 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
C.
Civil Infraction. Unless otherwise provided, any person violating any of the provisions of any ordinance or this code which is designated a class 1 civil infraction shall be assessed a monetary penalty not to exceed $250.00, not including statutory assessments, for each day that the violation occurs.
D.
Civil Code Violation. Unless otherwise provided, all other civil violations of any of the provisions of any ordinance or this code not otherwise deemed a misdemeanor, gross misdemeanor, or civil infraction shall be subject to enforcement and penalties pursuant to EMC Title 7 and shall carry with it a cumulative monetary penalty of $250.00 for each day that the violation has occurred or is occurring.
