While the general public may be permitted to access Borough buildings during regular business hours, the intent of this chapter is to safeguard public records that may contain confidential information or may be exempt from disclosure under the Open Public Records Act, other Borough assets, and personal belongings, and ensure a safe workplace, by restricting access to work stations and work areas where such records, assets and personal belongings are maintained.
For the exception of public reception spaces, the municipal office areas in the East Rutherford Police/Court Building (117 Stanley Street), East Rutherford Borough Hall (One Everett Place), Department of Public Works (300 Hackensack Street), Fire Headquarters (50 Herman Street) (119 Carlton Avenue) (312 Grove Street), East Rutherford Library (143 Boiling Springs Avenue), East Rutherford Building Dept/Fire Safety (312 Grove Street) have been secured and such areas and offices are not open to the public for the purpose of protecting documents, digital data and other written, copied or printed materials that are not subject to the Open Public Records Act, which may include, but are not limited to, personally identifiable information that is protected by the Statutes of the State of New Jersey and the Federal laws of the United States.
The Borough of East Rutherford shall be required to post signs outside of offices which read the following but not limited to the following wording, "Restricted Area," "Authorized Employees Only," "Recording or Photography is Strictly Prohibited." "Violators are Subject to Criminal Prosecution." Any variation of the above language shall all include, "Violators are Subject to Criminal Prosecution."
