For purposes of this chapter, the following terms shall be defined as follows, unless a different meaning is expressly provided:
A. "Commercial vehicle"
means and includes any vehicle the principal use of which is the transportation of commodities, merchandise, produce, freight, animals or passengers for hire.
B. "Crosswalk"
means the portion of the roadway between the intersection area and a prolongation or connection of the farthest sidewalk line or in the event there are no sidewalks then between the intersection area and a line 10 feet therefrom, except as modified by a marked crosswalk. A "marked crosswalk" is any portion of a roadway distinctly indicated for pedestrian crossing by lines or other markings on the surface thereof.
C. "Home business"
means any accessory activity customarily conducted in a dwelling, or in a building or structure accessory to a dwelling, for gainful employment involving the manufacture, provision or sale of goods and/or services, and where the residential character of the dwelling and neighborhood is maintained.
D. "Public right-of-way"
means any dedicated or developed property used or intended for use as public streets, alleys or other means of public ingress, egress or passage whether the property of the city, county, or state.
E. "Residential area"
means those areas in the city designated as zoned residential districts, such as low density residential (LDR), medium density residential (MDR), and high density residential (HDR), pursuant to SMC Title 18.
F. "Trailer"
means and includes every vehicle without motor power designated for being drawn by or used in conjunction with a motor vehicle; provided, that the term shall not include recreational vehicles such as travel trailers.
G. "Truck"
means and includes any motor vehicle designed primarily for the transportation of property.
H. "Motor vehicle"
means every vehicle which is self-propelled.
I. "Vehicle"
includes every device capable of being moved upon a street or public highway and in, upon, or by which any person or property is or may be transported or drawn upon a public highway.
J. "Recreational vehicle (RV)"
means a privately owned motor vehicle or travel trailer used for recreational purposes which is self-contained. The RV designation does not pertain to those RV vehicles being parked as part of a commercial activity such as repairs, sales or servicing or are being used for a commercial purpose.
K. "Food truck"
means an operable motor vehicle used to serve, vend, or provide ready-to-eat food or nonalcoholic beverages for immediate consumption, with or without charge, and is operated from a temporary location on a public way.
L. "Food truck vending"
means the sale of primarily food and/or nonalcoholic beverages from a food truck upon public ways of the city. Other items may be sold in conjunction with food truck vending items.
M. "Food truck vendor"
means a person who engages in the activity of food truck vending.
N. "Mailbox,"
in addition to its common meaning, means any authorized depository or receptacle of mail for the United States Postal Service or authorized depository for a commercial carrier that provides services to the general public, including any address to which mail is or can be addressed, or a place where the United States Postal Service or equivalent commercial carrier delivers mail to its addressee.
O. "Bicycle lane"
means any paths or parts of roadways set aside for the designated use of bicycles.
