To be eligible for installation of a town approved traffic calming device, a street must meet the following two qualifications:
A. 
It must be classified as an access, local, or collector street, as defined in the town of Yacolt Engineering Standards for Public Works Construction.
B. 
It must have an identified speeding problem as observed by neighborhood residents and verified by the public works supervisor.

The town council may by ordinance or resolution direct the public works director in the exercise of his/her authority under YMC § 10.10.030. Such direction may include, without limitation, the placement or maintenance of official traffic control devices to regulate, warn, or guide traffic as the council may deem necessary or prudent.

No person shall without lawful authority attempt to or in fact alter, deface, injure, knock down, or remove any official traffic control signal, traffic device, railroad sign or signal, or any inscription, shield or insignia thereon, or any other part thereof.

Any person convicted of a violation of YMC § 10.10.050 shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $1,000.
