Resolution 4963 was included in this municipal code at the request of the city attorney.
In order that the members of the city council may also become the commissioners of the housing authority, it is declared that the offices of the existing commissioners of the authority are vacated as of 12:01 a.m. on the first day of July, 1973, at which time the members of the city council shall, in addition to their capacity as legislators, also become the commissioners of the housing authority of the city.

This chapter does not in any manner change the status of the housing authority of the city as a public body, corporate, and politic, as specified in Section 34310 of the Health and Safety Code, which authority has continued and continues to exist as a legal entity without change since the date it was determined by Resolution No. 4252, dated December 19, 1966, that there was a need for the authority to function, and the authority is entitled to all the rights and privileges and is subject to all the obligations and liabilities of the housing authority of the city which existed at the time of the change of commissioners authorized by this chapter.
