No person shall park a vehicle in any of the following places, and vehicles found parked in violation of the provisions of this section may be moved by or under the direction of an officer and at the expense of the owner to a place where parking is permitted:
A. 
Within an intersection.
B. 
Upon any sidewalk.
C. 
Upon any crosswalk.
D. 
Upon the roadway in a rural or sparsely settled district.
E. 
Upon the roadway in a business or residential district where parking is permitted unless both wheels on the right side of the vehicle are within 12 inches of the curb or edge of the roadway except where angle parking is required.
F. 
Upon any roadway where the parking of a vehicle will not leave a clear and unobstructed lane at least 10 feet wide for passing traffic.
G. 
Upon any street or highway within 10 feet of a fire hydrant.
H. 
Upon or in front of any private road or driveway without the consent of the owner of said private road or driveway.
I. 
Upon any street or highway within 20 feet of an intersecting way, except alleys.
A. 
No person shall park a vehicle other than a bus in a bus stop.
B. 
No person shall park a bus upon any street within a business district at any place other than a bus stop when a nearby bus stop is available for use.
No person shall park a vehicle other than a taxicab upon any street within a business district in any taxicab stand for a period of time longer than 15 minutes except while actually engaged in loading or unloading, provided that such loading and unloading does not exceed a period of time longer than 1/2 hour.
No person shall park a vehicle upon any streets in any service zone for a period of time longer than 15 minutes except while actually engaged in loading or unloading, provided that such loading or unloading does not exceed a period of time longer than 1/2 hour.
A. 
The Board of Selectmen shall determine upon what streets angle parking shall be permitted and shall mark or sign such streets or cause the same to be marked or signed.
B. 
Upon those streets which have been marked or signed for angle parking vehicles shall be parked with one wheel within 12 inches of the curb and at the angle to the curb indicated by such marks or official signs.

A. 
Purpose. The purpose of the emergency parking ban shall be to provide for the safe movement of police, fire and emergency medical service vehicles during snow and ice storms and otherwise provide for public safety during winter weather conditions. The parking ban shall also serve to enhance the capability of the Highway Department to effectively and efficiently remove snow and ice from the roadways.
B. 
Implementation. The winter parking ban/snow emergency shall be implemented in a manner that provides for public safety while inconveniencing the smallest number of residents for the shortest possible time.
C. 
Emergency declaration of the winter parking ban or snow emergency. Winter parking ban and snow emergencies shall automatically be enacted upon occurrence of the following:
(1) 
Winter parking ban is implemented when the area is forecasted to receive at least two inches of snow.
(2) 
Snow emergency is implemented when the area is forecasted to receive at least six inches of snow.
D. 
Duration of emergency parking ban. The snow emergency shall remain in effect for a minimum of 48 hours after the storm has concluded. The Highway Surveyor may extend the snow emergency indefinitely dependent on snow accumulation on the roads and shoulders.
E. 
Ticketing and towing pursuant to parking ban.
(1) 
Winter parking ban, parking shall be prohibited on all Town streets from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.; snow emergency, parking shall be prohibited on all Town streets.
(2) 
Winter parking ban/snow emergency violators shall be charged a fine of $25 and/or subject to tow.
F. 
Notification of public parking ban. Announcements of the snow emergencies shall be made by as many ways possible, some of which may be by the Town, Police and Fire websites, local radio stations, and/or on cable television stations. Announcements that the snow emergency has ended will be made by the same means. The Town residents without access to social media may call the police department non-emergency line at (978)352-5700 to check the status of the winter parking ban or snow emergency.
G. 
Town-owned and -maintained parking lots. Park & Ride lot park all cars on the right side (when entering from East Main Street) during snowstorms. After the storm has concluded and the lot has been cleared vehicles will move to the opposite side to allow clearing of the entire lot.
