The Agricultural Commissioner shall charge and collect fees for registrations, certifications, inspections, Wildlife Services, and other related services as authorized by California state law and performed by the Commissioner or his or her authorized representatives. The amount of said fees shall be established by the Board of Supervisors by ordinance in accordance with applicable provisions of law, in amounts which do not exceed the costs incurred by the County in performing the services.
Effective January 3, 2026, and thereafter each year no later than May 15th, the Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer may authorize, effective July 1st of the same calendar year, the adjustment of all fees (excluding fees set by statute) for the Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures services identified in Chapter
2.72, applying the increase, if any, in the CPI for All Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPIW) using the U.S. City average based on CPI data obtained from the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor statistics for the year (January 1st to December 31st) in which the fees are adjusted. The authority to make such adjustments shall expire after January 3, 2031. Any proposed fee changes under this provision shall be reviewed by the Auditor-Controller Division of the Department of Finance and rounded to the nearest whole dollar amount. A fee study shall be conducted no less frequently than every five years, commencing January 1, 2031. The adjusted fee schedule shall be published by written notice to the Clerk of the Board.
