(a)
It shall be unlawful for any person to violate any of the provisions or to fail to comply with any of the requirements of this Code. Every act prohibited or declared unlawful and every failure to perform an act required by this Code is a misdemeanor unless specifically specified as an infraction in this Code. Every person convicted of a misdemeanor for a violation of this Code shall be punished by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000) or by imprisonment for not longer than six (6) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment (unless this Code or State statute specifically provides otherwise).
(b)
Every person convicted of an infraction for a violation of this Code shall be punished upon a first conviction by a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars ($100.00) and for a second conviction for the same offense within a period of one (1) year by a fine not exceeding two hundred dollars ($200.00), and for a third or any subsequent conviction for the same offense within a period of one (1) year by a fine not exceeding five hundred dollars ($500.00) (unless this Code or State statute specifically provides otherwise). Any person violating this Code or causing or permitting a violation thereof shall be regarded as committing a separate offense on each day that the violation occurs or continues.
