For the purpose of this code, certain words and phrases are defined and certain provisions shall be construed as set out in this section, unless it is apparent from their context that a different meaning is intended or unless a different meaning is specifically defined and more particularly directed to the use of such words and phrases.
E. "Occupant"
applied to a building or land, includes any person who occupies the whole or part of such building or land, whether alone or with others.
F. "Officer"
is any elected or appointed officer, except where the natural construction otherwise indicates. An "appointed officer" is a person appointed by or employed by the City as the principal employee of a department for the discharge of duties expressly provided for by law or particular delegated functions.
G. "Owner,"
applied to a building or land, includes any part owner, joint owner, tenant in common, or joint tenant, of the whole or a part of such building or land.
H. "Person"
includes any individual, firm, partnership, joint venture, association, social club, fraternal organization, corporation, estate, trust, business trust, receiver, assignee for the benefit of creditors, trustee, trustee in bankruptcy, syndicate, the United States, the State, any county, city and county, municipality, district, or other political subdivision of the State, or any other group or combination acting as a unit.
J. "Street"
includes all streets, highways, avenues, roads, lanes, alleys, courts, places, squares, curbs, or other public ways in this City which have been or may hereafter be dedicated and open to public use, or such other public property so designated in any law of this State.
K. "Tenant"
applied to a building or land, includes any person who occupies the whole or part of such building or land, whether alone or with others.
L.
Whenever the word "Town" is used, it shall mean City. The name of the Town of Calistoga is changed to the City of Calistoga.
